Today, I've taken command of the Starship Enterclaws, a Panther class starship. It’s the first of its kind, and even has a camouflage to it. It blends with its surrounding space, hence the name Panther Class. It’s very much like an Intrepid, but with four nacelles that spread apart. In those nacelles are The Battle Bays. Small fighter ships are docked in there.
As I walked onto the bridge of the Enterclaws, everyone snapped to attention at Lieutenant ChevIs' words "Captain on the Bridge." I was startled for a moment. We had just taken over the ship, and I certainly wasn’t used to this kind of attention! “Go about your business everyone,” I replied. “No special attention needed.” They did as they were told, and I hopped up into The Captains Chair, with my tail curled around, and the sneaky, darkside, ‘I rule’ smirk on my face that many new captains have.
See, we were on a scouting mission, and we had come across strange alien transwarp trails – The Borg. The Borg are after a relentless pursuit of assimilation to “better” themselves into the perfect race. They are organic life forms made up of different species, with enhanced physical and mental capabilities. They adapt to new weapons and technologies faster then I could clean a plate of beef jerky!
Anyway, we followed the trail to a pre-warp planet where a Borg Cube began the assimilating process. On the view screen, I could see the deadly neon green assimilation beam stretching to the planet from their hull. How I hated them and what they did to those innocent creatures. “Take us away.” The Captain ordered. That’s when I piped up. “What? We can’t just leave them like this!” “Commander,” the Captain started out. “You know as well as I do that interfering with a pre-warp civilization is against The Prime Directive.” “Oh, and we’ve never broken that before?” I challenged. “In my office.” He said. “By the time we reach that door, those people will be assimilated!” I said. I could see ChevIs stiffening, and the hairs on his back beginning to bristle. The Captain stated again, “Take us out of here.” No one moved. “ChevIs,” I began, “Why don’t you escort the Captain away.” Suddenly, the Captain pulled out his phaser and fired at me, only to be fired upon and hit by ChevIs. I had ducked. I immediately sprung into action. “Fire quantums on the Borg ship. Give ‘em all we’ve got!” Commander Korvik went into action, moving his Vulcan hands across the panels as fast as he could.
The Enterclaws moved into action. It swooped in upon the Cube, firing at the assimilation beam, and disabling it first. It started on the weapons next. With in five minutes, the cube was destroyed. We had saved over half of the people on the planet, and helped them stock necessary supplies to rebuild the damage, and also dropped off our unconscious ex-Captain. There was only one problem. We had created a serious crime against the Prime Directive. From this point forward, we were on our own. We had made a very powerful enemy.
